School Community

Introduction

At Our Lady of Mount Carmel we believe in a school community that is inclusive, encompassing Parish, families and the wider community. We strive to ensure that the Catholic ethos is lived daily by all who attend our school. Our aim is to be a welcoming community that values the dignity of each individual and what they have to offer. We promote home/school partnerships with families that enable and assist with making positive and meaningful learning opportunities for all of our children.

The school invites parents to participate and become involved in a number of groups and activities. Many opportunities are available for parents to offer their help and expertise.

These include:

  • Education Board
  • Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) – Fundraising and community building
  • Excursions
  • Camp
  • Classroom programs from Prep to Year 6
  • Canteen

  • Sports programs
  • Student wellbeing team

The school is also an active member of the wider local community and is involved in a number of community events.

These include:

  • ANZAC Day March
  • Remembrance Day Ceremony
  • Sunbury Show
  • Sunbury Arts Festival
  • Visitation to Nursing Homes
  • Carols (shopping centre and Village Green)
